INDUS Technology, Inc. (INDUS) is
pleased to announce that Science Applications International Corporation
(SAIC), and INDUS, both in San Diego, California, have received
approval of their mentor-protégé agreement by the
Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Office of Small and Disadvantaged
Business Utilization (SADBU). This action by OSD enters the companies
into the Department of Defense Mentor Protégé Program.
The DoD's Mentor-Protégé Program
was established to provide incentives for major defense contractors
to help small disadvantaged businesses enhance their capabilities
and to increase their participation as subcontractors and suppliers
under DoD government contracts. The goal of the program is to assist
protégés to successfully compete for prime contract
and subcontract awards. Successful Mentor-Protégé agreements
provide a winning relationship for the protégé, the
mentor and the DoD.
The agreement was submitted through
the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), SADBU office
in San Diego, California, and endorsed by the Department of the
Navy SADBU office. SPAWAR’s Small Business Program leads
the Navy in their support to Small Business. The agreement will
be funded by OSD SADBU under SAIC’s Navigation Development
Contract with SPAWAR Systems Center, San Diego.
SAIC, a leader in systems engineering and professional services, has developed
a program to assist Indus in becoming a valued supplier to the Navy and Federal
Government. Specific objectives include further enhancement of the INDUS infrastructure
as they continue their record growth.
Dr. Kathleen Sridhar, President and CEO of INDUS, commented, "We are grateful
for the comprehensive mentoring program developed by SAIC, and are honored
to have received program approval from the OSD departments involved in the
Mentor Protégé Program selection process. We look forward to
working closely with our mentor, SAIC.”
