The National Defense Industry Association (NDIA) Board of Directors recently voted to change the name of the National Small Business Excellence Award to the “Kathleen Sridhar Small Business Executive of the Year Award”. By unanimous vote, the NDIA National Board of Directors honored one of its fallen leaders, contributors and business executive. Earlier this year Dr. Sridhar was the first recipient of this award (posthumously) in recognition of her leadership in growing INDUS Technology from a start-up company to over 150 employees, her leadership as President of the NDIA San Diego Chapter and contribution to the National NDIA organization as Trustee while fighting a valiant battle against breast cancer.

NDIA National votes annually to honor three leaders each year. A senior leader in government receives the Eisenhower Award for their service as a military or legislative leader respectively. A senior leader from industry is awarded the Defense Industry Leadership Award. And now a leader from Small Business is recognized for their contribution under the title of “Kathleen Sridhar Small Business Executive of the Year Award”.

The last few Eisenhower Award and Defense Industry Leadership Award honorees included Congressman Ike Skelton, General James L. Jones, USMC, Senator Daniel Inouye, Dr. J. Robert Beyster Founder and CEO of SAIC and Tomas W. Rabaut President United Defense L. P. It is an honor to have INDUS’ founder and Small Business Leader recognized in this manner.
